The objective of this workshop
In considering the abundant global potential requirements for engineers with quality engineering and testing skills, especially non-destructive testing, and fulfilling the requirements of industry 4.O curriculum and syllabi of B.E. Mechanical Engineering of Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, the Department of Industrial Engineering, of Institute of Mechanical Engineering organized one day workshop on Non-destructive testing with Hand on training for final year mechanical engineering students. For this special one day works shop. The experts were invited from the industrial training sector of ECRS group, Chennai. The Director and two more instructors handled the workshop. The final year students of Mechanical Engineering and its allied branch students also participated in the workshop. The team of Programme director, HODs and faculty members guided the students for effective learning and ensured active and enthusiastic participation of each participant. Workshop Highlights: Though more than 100 students were registered and 40 students were shortlisted based on the registration order in the ratio of 1:3, 25% guest participants and 75% host participants and 37 students got benefitted. The Director of ECRS Group Mr. Mohan Ram conducted this one-day workshop in two phases. In the first phase, he excites the students by highlighting the potential global requirements for engineers with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) skills and the importance of such technical skills for industrial requirements to ensure their incoming, ongoing, and outgoing quality materials semi finished goods and products, respectively. In this interactive session, the participants interacted with the industrial trainers well. The trainers addressed all queries raised by students and explained the philosophy behind various kinds of NDT. For the rest of the session, students enjoyed the hands-on training on some portable NDT instruments. The hands-on training includes calibration of testing equipment, job preparation, testing procedure and test on flow job. At the valedictory function, the participants eagerly shared their experiences with dignitaries and expressed their positive responses. |
