Students pursuing the course “Characterization and fabrication of nanomaterials” taught by Mr. MJ Silvister Raju, Department of Innovative Product Design and Development (IPDD), had visited Indian Institute of Technology Madras for One Day Lab Visit. This included the visit of prominent characterization facilities such as Transmission Electron Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope, X-ray Diffraction, etc., with the support of Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras. Similarly nanomaterial synthesis lab, headed by Prof. S.S. Bhattacharya, which has the facilities such as flame spray pyrolysis (FSP), nebulized spray pyrolysis and ball milling.

The focus of this Expo is mainly focused on how to develop the blue print for the futuristic foundries. It will also emphasize on cost effective automation and drive towards industry 4.0.
With the recent awareness on pollution and its adverse effects on the environment. It will discuss the Prevention and mitigation methods for sustainable development and a move towards a green foundry. |

The exhibit is mainly to showcase the Machine tools from various companies. Exhibits were from companies of CNC Machines, CNC & PLC Controls, CAD / CAM Systems, Cutting Tools and Accessories, Special Purpose Machines, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Industrial Robotics, Instrumentation, Low Cost Automation, Machinery & Machine Tools, Welding, Material Handling Systems, Energy Saving Solutions, Sheet Metal Press, Laser Cutting, Cleaning Systems, Cold Forging Machines, Co-ordinate Measuring Machines, Control Devices, Power Tools, System Consultancy, Testing & Measurement Equipment, Related IT & Consultancy Services.
Benefits: The students were able to exhibit their capability in explaining the projects and receive the valuable suggestions given by the experienced professionals, to enhance their projects in near future. The students had the chance to visit the company exhibits and were able to see some exotic machine tools and even some advanced engineering processes which was a rare opportunity. They were also able to directly interact with the companies and learn opportunities for internships and placements. |
